I am just your “average” suburban wife and mother. I host the playdates, cheer at the games, and try to keep a clean house and my family healthy. As my kids got older we all got busier we fell into the habit of eating out, taking out or driving thru for our meals. The hubs and I were gaining weight and wasting money and something had to change. I took it upon myself to get more organized and cook more. It did not take long to get bored with chicken soup, meatloaf and grilled chicken. As I started I felt overwhelmed by recipes and cooking shows. All kinds of ingredients and equipment they called for were not only intimidating but expensive. Some I had never heard of nor knew where to go to find them. Other dishes were overly complicated, had tons of pricy ingredients, or were terribly unhealthy. I decided to wing-it and see what happens. I started slow but soon found it was a lot of fun to make up dishes for my 4 guinea pigs (AKA Family). Some are slight twists on a recipe; others are a desperate pantry raid at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Some were terrible and we would order a pizza. So here I am, venturing into the blog-o-sphere to share what little I can and hopefully empower a few other mommies to bring their loved ones around the table for good, easy, affordable, and healthy meals.
